About

Costume Designer Wendy Chuck has collaborated with some of the film industry’s most celebrated talents, including Alexander Payne, Tom McCarthy, Jack Nicholson, George Clooney, Robert Redford, Jane Fonda, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Jane Campion.

Her alchemy with fabric, texture, pattern, and color has brought life to a diverse range of on-screen characters including Nebraska’s rustic Midwesterners, Election’s conniving high schooler, Twilight's teenage vampires, Spotlight's journalistic team, and the inhabitants of Downsizing's miniaturized world.

Trained in fashion in Australia, Chuck refined her skills as a cutter/fitter/tailor for ABC TV and Opera Australia in Sydney, before a decade of freelance work in London that included styling an eclectic group of musicians, a 6-year tenure as a costume designer at the BFI Museum, London, and sharing her knowledge teaching at the City Literary Institute London.

In 1994, the Australian Film Institute nominated Chuck for Best Achievement in Costume for the period piece Country Life (1994) starring Greta Scacchi and Sam Neill.

Other awards have followed — a CDG win for Mr. Payne's About Schmidt in 2003 and nominations for Nebraska (2014) and The Descendants (2011).

Ms. Chuck also designed costumes for the mega cult hit Twilight (2008), Varsity Blues (1999), Bad Santa (2003), and The Ring 2 (2005).

Some of her other notable releases include the Best Picture Academy Award winner Spotlight (2015) and San Andreas (2014).

Fun collaborations have been with comedienne Melissa McCarthy and director Ben Falcone on their hits Tammy (2014) and The Boss (2016), as well as Matthew Weiner, for Amazon's The Romanoffs (2018).

Other notable collaborations are Our Souls at Night (2017) by director Ritesh Batra with Jane Fonda and Robert Redford, Confess, Fletch (2022) by director Greg Mottola with Jon Hamm, and Hubie Halloween (2020), a comedy starring Adam Sandler.

Wendy currently wrapped work on Disney's Lilo and Stitch (2024) and is currently developing her capsule collection.
